The
cultural district
A concentrate of art and modernity
In the heart of Albi, the Cordeliers district embodies the soul of the city, an illustration of its dynamism and modernity. Alongside the lively terraces and shops, art galleries, craft shops, bookstores, there is a theater, a media library, a cinema and soon, the Lapérouse Museum (opening planned for 2027).
The Théâtre des Cordeliers, an essential reference for lovers of live performances, hosts the Scéne Nationale d'Albi and offers a rich and varied program throughout the year: theater, dance, music, and contemporary performances follow one another in an atmosphere refined and friendly.
Next door, the Pierre-Amalric Media Library will delight literature enthusiasts, film fans, and those curious about thematic exhibitions. Modern and bright, it offers a pleasant space to relax or work, and numerous resources and activities for young and old. Further on, the CGR Cinema offers a quality cinematic experience, whether for blockbusters, arthouse films or preview screenings.
Finally, in 2027, the Cordeliers district will welcome an additional gem with the opening of the new Lapérouse Museum. Dedicated to the life and adventures of the famous Albi navigator, this museum will offer an unmissable journey for history and maritime exploration enthusiasts.
